No, referrals are not required.
Yes they are!! We are pleased to share that Bill C-59 received royal assent, on 21 June 2024, successfully removing the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on counselling and psychotherapy services. Therefore, all psychotherapy sessions are tax-free!
The first appointment is called an intake session (can be 1-2 sessions) which involves a detailed assessment to understand your history and background, relationship dynamics and the stressors/challenges that have contributed to your current situation and state. Your therapist will also discuss your goals for therapy and work with you to develop a treatment plan to meet those goals. We aim to make this process a comfortable one and to provide you with a safe place to talk about your concerns.
Sessions are 50-minutes long, and the frequency depends on your particular situation and the treatment plan discussed with your therapist. Often the therapeutic process begins with weekly sessions to develop a good therapeutic relationship and foundation to work towards your treatment goals. Ultimately, you can decide what is most suitable for you: weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly sessions.
The standard fee for one session is $168. Payment is received at the end of each session. Your credit/debit card will be saved to our secure system for automatic processing.
An affordable therapy rate of $90 per session is available, please inquire with your therapist for availability.
Yes, but we always recommend that you check with your insurance policy to make sure your third-party coverage includes our services. Check to see if your policy covers “Registered Psychotherapist” also known as RP’s. It could also fall under the designation of “Psychotherapy”, “Counselling”, “Mental Health” or even “Marriage Counselling”. Most policies cover one of the aforementioned designations.
We do not accept direct billing from insurance companies. You will receive a detailed invoice that can be submitted to your insurance company for reimbursement.
Therapy sessions are not covered by OHIP; however, many extended health insurance plans include coverage for psychological services.
For cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice, clients will be charged 50% of the session fee. For same-day cancellations, cancellations within 12 hours notice, or missed appointments, clients will be responsible for the full session fee. If the client is late for a session, the client may lose some of that session time and is still required to pay for the session in full. Flexibility may be provided for emergency situations or for a client's first cancelled or missed appointment.
Confidentiality is one of the cornerstones of therapy. Registered Psychotherapists are legally and ethically bound to keep all information received within the parameters of therapy confidential. Exceptions to this rule are discussed at the onset of the first session.
The therapeutic relationship is key to successful therapy. If you do not feel the therapist is a good match, then you can always book a consultation with someone else who is a better fit for you.
